Reading order

  1. Twilight

    Book 1 2005 4.5 (26.1k)

About three things I was absolutely positive: First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him–and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be–that thirsted for my blood.

  2. New Moon

    Book 2 2006 4.6 (17.3k)

I FELT LIKE I WAS TRAPPED IN ONE OF THOSE TERRIFYING NIGHTMARES… For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen.

  3. Eclipse

    Book 3 2006 4.6 (15.9k)

Edward’s soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running.

  4. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

    Novella 3.5 2009 4.4 (2.5k)

  5. Breaking Dawn

    Book 4 2000 4.7 (18.1k)

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan.

  6. Midnight Sun

    Book 5 2020 4.6 (25.2k)

Relive the passion and thrill of the New York Times bestselling Twilight Saga romance with this highly anticipated companion, retelling the iconic love story of Bella and Edward, from the vampire's point of view.

About this reading order

Books are listed in the series' own numbering, which for The Twilight Saga is also the best order to read them in. Novellas and short stories sit between the novels they follow, numbered the way the publisher numbers them (3.5 comes after book 3). They are optional — you can skip them without missing the main story. Years are first publication where we could confirm it, and otherwise the first audiobook release.
